Large fire in Gruenwald

Gruenwald.  Friday morning a large fire broke out in a shopping center. According to dpa the fires broke out at around 4.15am in a sports shop on the first floor of the center, several other shops and nearby houses were affected with the fire as well.

When firefighters arrived, the roof of the u-shaped building of the shopping center was already ablaze.  Thirteen people from the surrounding flats were brought to safety as a  precaution, no one was injured.  Large parts of the shopping center were apparently destroyed. "The fire has caused very high property damage" said a spokesman for the fire department. Adjacent streets had to be blocked for hours. Currently, the fire is under control but the fire department is still busy with damping.
