Blade Runner, the 1982 cult movie directed by Riddley Scott, is on his way to the realization of its sequel. The film, based on the novel "Do androids dream of electric sheep?" by Philip K. Dick was starring by Harrison Ford, Rutger Hauer, Darryl Hanna, Sean Young, Edward James Olmos and James Hong, among others. The screenplay of the original movie was written by Hampton Fancher and David Webb Peoples. Now Scott has signed a contract for the screenplay with Michael Green, former writer of chapters of the successful tv series Smalville, Everwood and Heroes, as well as the movie Green Lantern (DC Comics).Michael Green has been also commisioned by DC Comics to write the screenplay for the new version of another DC superheroe, Flash, and science fiction seems to fit to him as a tailored suit.

In 2012 a Blu-Ray Blade Runner 30th anniversary collectors edition was released with additional outtakes, interviews,  and the director´s 2007 final cut. Loved by Blade Runner fans, it includes a four disc presentation with dvd´s, audio tracks and a sound mastering edition that enhanced dialogues and the wonderful music score by Vangelis (so well remembered by Chariots of Fire).

Because of all this, Blade Runner 2 is awaited with high expectations. The story of the film is about an utopic future in Los Angeles 2019, where robot machines called Nexus-6 and known as replicants, have been created looking as similar to human as possible, but phisically stronger and agile, to develop high risks tasks, as mineral mining in outer space colonies. But a team of Nexus-6 lead by Roy Batty (Rutger Hauer) and his love friend Pris (Darryl Hanna), starts a rebelion and get back to earth, where they are banned to return.

So rettired LAPD policeman, Rick Deckard (Harrison Ford), former top agent from blade runners, a special police team, has the mission to "retire" the replicants, an euphemistic word for killing them all, after a shuttle has been stoled by six replicants to get back to earth.
A handsome replicant called Rachael (Sean Young) is asigned to Deckard for knowing about then, and what haven´t been expected by scientists happens: Replicants are able to develope emotions such as compassion, love, reason and non logic knowledge such as comprehension of poetics about life.

From such point of philosophic departure that can be tracked down to Descartes proposition (I think therefore I exist), and the modern question about if machines can develop human emotions, the sequel of Blade Runner which could be protagonized by a female character, is being developed by Alcon Entertainment in conjuntio with Warner Bros, could bring as the return of Harrison Ford to the role of Rick Deckard (to be confirmed).
